Yusheng literally means &#8220;raw fish&#8221; but since &#8220;fish (\u9c7c)&#8221; is commonly conflated with its homophone &#8220;abundance (\u4f59)&#8221;, Y\u00fash\u0113ng (\u9c7c\u751f) is interpreted as a homophone for Y\u00fash\u0113ng (\u4f59\u5347) meaning an increase in abundance.
