Tsui Wah Restaurant (翠華餐廳)

What reminds you of a certain country when you travel? To me, besides the ‘must go to’ tourist sight seeing places and history monuments or building, food is the other factor that makes me want to go back to that country. Hong Kong – a place which i do not mind going for a holiday every year just to satisfy my cravings for food, and of course shopping as well!

Tsui Wah Restaurant is one of my ‘must go to’ place for a good and hearty meal when i am in HK, you can get anything for breakfast, brunch, snacks, lunch, dinner and even supper. This is a typical char chan teng (茶餐廳) which one will see all over the island of Hong Kong, the ones that i frequent most are from the airport (Hong Kong International Airport – HKIA), opposite Eaton Hotel (at Jordan) and Langham Place Hotel (at Mongkok).

This is the restaurant name that cannot be missed!

My hearty breakfast on one of the mornings during my trip to HK this April. I ordered a set, which consists of:

IMG_9765

Two fried eggs and butter bread and butter bread(西煎双蛋, 牛油餐包)

Macaroni soup with mock abalone and shredded ham (this certainly deserves more than just thumbs up for it!). The whole set comes with a milk tea or coffee and costs HK$30, which is roughly around S$5. In fact most of the morning breakfast set are around this price, cheap and affordable and keeps you full for the morning 🙂

I ordered this a-al-carte, Crispy bun served with sweet condensed milk (脆嘩奶油豬 – lai you ju), as recommended my close friend. This is basically a simple breakfast bun, toasted to crispiness and topped with condensed milk. Make sure to eat it hot as it will turn soft when it is cold. No doubt that it’s very sinful, it will still be highly recommended by me. I think this is better than bo luo you (菠萝油).

魚蛋河粉 – Hand made fish ball nor fun

My favourite dish from this restaurant and one of my ‘must have’ on my food list should i be in hk! Hand made fish ball and fish cake  has the springy or QQ effect, pair it up with the thin hor fun (rice noodles), and oh, the soup is so good till the last drop! No worries if you are just transiting at hk as you will be able to find this at the huge eating area at the airport.

For those of you who needs the carbo energy rush, you can order fragrant rice with side dishes. This is stir fried sliced garoupa with kai-lan. Its tasty and healthy with fish and vegetables!

Does all the foods make you drool and feel hungry now?
